clean friendly and reasonably priced good food, nice view, comfortable beds quiet and peaceful place to relax
hallways were a bit dull, could have been a bit brighter or livelier.
Nice rooms, comfortable beds and adequate pool.
Very thin walls- neighbours were talking at a normal volume in their room until past midnight and we couldn't sleep, but can't really complain when they are just talking. Would also prefer more entertainment/activity options for fall as the summer activities had ended and winter had not begun.
We spent our honeymoon there and have only been able to get back a few times.......Loved it.......will be back next summer with grandaughter to enjoy all the summer facilities.....
(Room was in the main hotel.) Comfy bed, spotless linen, good buffet breakfast.
Very tired décor throughout lobby/reception, bedroom and corridors. Corridors stuffy and smelling strongly of air freshener. Very small en suite bathroom. Bathroom had no extraction (no window or extractor fan), venting directly into the bedroom - unacceptable.
Our room was very nice and comfortably accommodated 4 of us. We were lucky to have a lakeside view with a balcony which caught the afternoon sun. There was plenty for us to do, including swimming in the indoor or outdoor pools, sauna, canoeing, Booked.neting, games room, tennis, basketball and volleyball. The hotel would be good in the winter as there are 2 ski lifts and ski slopes right on the doorstep.
This hotel is not ideal if you are disabled. There is no lift. There are lots and lots of steps down from the hotel to the lake (although you could get there via the steep road, or drive down). Going down to the lake on the grassy slope is treacherous when the grass is wet and we were appalled by the amount of 'poop' on the grass, it was everywhere! We figured it must be goose droppings as there were over 50 Canadian geese at a time feeding on the slopes. The reception staff were not very helpful when asked questions and seemed understaffed when we needed more toilet roll in our room and had to go and collect it ourselves from reception. The hotel would benefit from some updating, particularly the pools and changing rooms.
-Amenities -Comfort - Tennis courts and pools
- small beach - access to the beach from the building was not easy.
We enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and staff cleaned it every day. The resort itself is located on a hill with tennis courts, basketball, hiking trails, beach, dock (for fishing), indoor and outdoor pools, clean beach (swim friendly), canoes, Booked.nets and paddleboats. We enjoyed sitting by the dock in our Muskoka chairs watching the sunset by evening, and enjoying nature by day. Huntsville, Windermere, Bracebridge, Bala were all close for shopping ventures. We would love to return. Thanks for a great stay.
I saw that there was an even better rate available than I paid, and I was disappointed that I didn't get it for that price...
The location is great.
The service was poor and the tv and cable was out for most of the first two days. When asked about it they simply said that it was not their fault as all of the area was out. That still did not do anything for us with no access to the net or tv. When asked about a discount as major facilities were not available they said that would be out of the question. I would never go back.
We thought the staff at the front desk and the restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the view while eating our dinner outside on the deck. The location was perfect as our daughter is employed at a nearby camp which made access to her and Huntsville very convenient.
Unfortunately, when we arrived at the hotel, our room was not ready. We had to wait for over an hour before we were called and able to access our room. When we arrived in our room we were quite disappointed to find that there was a double bed and a pull out couch, rather than the two double beds we were expecting as described in our reservation and shown in the photos. As well, the dinner we ordered was good and the staff very friendly but again we had to wait for at least half an hour before we received our bill and we only received it when we went inside and requested it.
Our air conditioner in our room was not working. We complained after the first night at 9:00 am, they sent someone to look it over, the man shut it off and never came back. It was the 2 hottest nights we spent in a hotel room.
The location, beach n scenic view from the room and everything else but the staff overall from the reception to the restaurant n the housekeeper all were very rude and unfriendly . But the resort by itself was exellenr experience.
Your unfriendly and rude staff...
Shower does not have that much pressure
Location of the Hotel and the room. It is not too far from Toronto and provides excellent amenities for a short break away from the city. The view from the room was excellent as it was facing the lake.
Perhaps offer less expensive items on the menu. The food was quite pricey.
Location Location Location! Hidden Valley Resort is the perfect place to stay and ski or even for a trip just to Huntsville. Lovely hotel!
The room was slightly chilly despite the heat on full, however nice warm blankets made it just right ;)
Quiet, clean, relaxing
Beds were too hard, no hot tub
